Afternoon People
Meet: Wolfhill Hall
When: Third Monday of the month 2pm - 4pm
The above get together in an informal social gathering, once per month (except for the inclement period of the winter – usually December/January).
The attendance varies but tends to be in the senior age group of retirees and/or housewives; we have occasionally had as many as ten attending but the usual pattern of attendance would average at about 6 – 8 persons. We defray the rental cost (£12) of the hall between us.
We meet to participate in table games if so inclined, like scrabble, dominoes, cards alphabetic competitions like ‘Fruit Flower` - anything which will stimulate both enjoyment and participation of all. We also tend to chat about general village concerns, and sometimes even more widespread interests pertaining to the country as a whole. It is a very relaxing afternoon and its aim really is to provide a social outlet for those who are interested and available in the community of an afternoon.
We always have refreshments during the afternoon, tea/coffee and cake/biscuit, with generally also a bottle of wine contributed by the enthusiasts for vino among us. The prime movers of the feast are Mrs Joy Boyd and Mrs Sheila Watson, whose contribution to the event is much appreciated by all
